This was taken from the Hearst Building
(where I used to work), looking southwest
across the Hudson River and over New Jersey.
My mother has an expression that she hauls
out to explain any otherwise inexplicable
phenomena: It's all done with chemicals.
I believe it applies here.
It likely is done with chemicals, kind of scary. Still, what a pretty sunset!
ReplyDeleteVery nice chemical sunset you have here. The sun looks so big out there.
ReplyDeleteWhat a coincidence. It’s Sky Watch Friday here too.
ReplyDeleteActually, that is one impressive sunset. Oh, but didn’t you mention how air pollution (chemicals/New Jersey) can lead to some fantastic sunsets? Still, the view is quite eximious.
Not Tequila? Oh wait - that's the sunrise, isn't it.
ReplyDeleteBetween you and TG, I can always count on expanding my vocab here! eximious: distinguished; eminent; excellent. Origin:
1540–50; < L eximius select, distinguished, excellent (deriv. of eximere to take out, remove)
Beautiful sky. My husband used to say of Jello 'It's pure chemistry!" But he ate it!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful sunset.I like it.
ReplyDeleteGreat photo!
Thanks, guys!
ReplyDeleteTG -- you are not only Prez Linkin' but the Viscount of Vocab as well!
Shell -- yeah, I didn't know that one either (darn that truth serum).
Bibi -- I had a French friend who called Jell-o "la rouge qui bouge," and she wouldn't touch the stuff.
That is an eerie fiery sky.
