The only flowers at the Saturday market last
week were daffodils and almond blossoms.
Won't be long before there will be so many
choices I won't be able to decide and I'll wind
up with flowers in every room in the house.
This little guy was much more interested
in getting to know every dog he encountered.
Flowers in every room - a great problem to have! Chrysanthemums are the most prolific flower here at the moment; the traditional Mother's Day selection. That little guy has such a sweet face! You can tell he's a softie.
ReplyDeletePas de muguet à New York !!!!
ReplyDeleteHere, it is every where, wish I could send you bunches !
Shell Sherree, sorry if this saddens you but, in France, Chrysanthemums are the traditional selection for...
...cemeteries, basically because it is almost the only available flower here in November for All Saints Day. Tradition, tradition...
Marylène, thank you for letting me know - I like to find out such things. That makes sense, as Mother's Day is in the last month of autumn here and All Saints Day is the same for your hemisphere. A cheerful flower here becomes a more solemn flower there. Interesting :)
ReplyDeleteYes, not a brin de muguet to be seen—and it is my absolute favorite flower.
ReplyDeleteWhen I got married (a very casual affair), my mother-in-law's best friend very sweetly asked if she could provide my bouquet. What I got was beautiful, but it was carnations! Naturally, I kept mum (so to speak) about the funereal connotations.
