abc wednesday - K is for "kayak"

Not usually what you see on the Grand Canal.
Actually, I'm not sure the serious folks manning the
vaporetti, traghetti, gondole, etc. were all
that thrilled to be sharing their "Main Street"
with such a small craft—I think maybe it's
the Venetian version of riding a bicycle down the
middle of the Ventura Freeway.

  1. This is so funny, the kayak looks so out of place.
You don't miss a thing do you Alexa?!

  2. Looks like he’s about to get his hair combed. Wide-toothedly.

Hey, Venture freeway! I know that one. Oh, let’s not be too hard on Mr. Kayaker. I once did a stint by bicycle on various sections of the 101. It was 1977 and we could follow the Bicentennial Bike Route which took us onto the freeway if there were no alternatives. A glimpse here. I wonder if that is still doable. Maybe not for me.

On second thought he is absolutely destroying the ambiance. Where are these guys when you need a little canal cleanup?

  4. I love your comparison, Alexa! Red ones go faster, don't they? This adventurer may need it.

  9. Lily said it ... that plastic boat does look so out of place, but does make great sense for getting around Venice. Love your Ventura anology!

  10. Thanks, guys!
TG -- my brother actually found himself in that very situation, while kayaking near Vancouver. Well, there was only one whale following him, but it was VERY big—and96666666+ VERY close behind him!

  11. Yeah, that was my annoying cat, who loves to walk across the keyboard and put in his 2 cents.

  12. So glad that orca didn’t become very close around your brother.

That “96666666+ ” did have me confused. Thanks for the explication. If Zazie promises to bring along a friend to keep your cat off the keyboard and occupied in camaraderie or battle can she still come over for some of that cake above? A cake that important you wouldn’t eat all at once, would you?

Can you tell that I got the book today?
