Shadow Shot Sunday

There are several war memorials in Battery Park,
at the tip of Manhattan. These stone
slabs (part of the East Coast Memorial) are
inscribed with the names of all those lost in
the Atlantic during WWII.
You kind of have to be there to appreciate
just how dramatic it is, but blowing it up helps.

[See more Shadow Shots here.]

  1. Your photo beautifully captures the sombre quietude, Alexa.

  2. Stark and dramatic shadow shot, to make one stop and think.

  3. The strong fall of shadows highlights the drama of these walls! Great shot in mono!

  4. Beautiful and somber...they just took down a statue of a civil war soldier in our town, it was dissolving because of the pollution in our sad that our city fathers don't see the problem and fix it.

  5. I like simple memorials like this, they are so powerful.
great shadow shot for today Alexa!

  6. I've seen these in person, and they are dramatic, as is your photo, especially when enlarged.

  7. I see that you have Britain listed as one of your interests! Perhaps you would enjoy my blog:

As often as possible I will post photographs of glorious vistas, charming close-ups, and interesting tidbits of life in Great Britain for the pleasure of Anglophiles everywhere!

Thanks, merci, grazie, danke, hvala, gracias, spasibo, shukran, dhanyavaad, salamat, arigato, and muito obrigado for your much-appreciated comments.
