big apple in bloom

If you wanted to sell an apartment on this
block, this would be the week to do it,
don't you think?  (And that's the library
in the distance—I've shown it to you

  2. And if you wanted to buy an apartment in that area, how much would it cost ?
I love Spring, it is indeed my favorite season.
    Very inspiring (?) picture.

  3. That's for sure! I love the way those branches arch, too. This one reminds me a bit of Melbourne for some reason. And I love the impressive kitty in your library photo, Alexa. Patience. Something I could always do with more of.

  4. Marylene -- I believe a one-bedroom, one-bath apartment in this neighborhood would probably cost somewhere between $470,000 (354,00 euros) and $535,000 (a bit over 400,000 euros). Not bad, actually.

  5. I can hear E.B. White’s voice echo down the street from the library and down through the canyons of 54 years past. Whether or not this is what he had in mind, the uplifting exhilaration we can find in your photo has me echoing E.B. White in his desire for The Second Tree on the Corner"

  6. What a great time to be in NYC! Sorry I've been away so long. I'll try to be a bit more diligent. Work has kept me busy and then a bad right eye (as of late) has put me off the computer. Nothing like April in New York and Paris, eh? Good week Alexa!

  7. TG -- what a perfect reference! And I think White was one of the greatest writers of the 20th century. (As it happens, one of my most prized possessions is a first edition of Stuart Little, with a personal message inside from E.B. White to my father.)
Here's why I go back after the fact -- wouldn't want to miss something like your comment on yesterday's post. Speaking of prized possessions, I know there are people who can't understand the idea of "letting go" of a mandala that was so painstakingly created. That is the point though, right?
And I'm sure we can all (maybe most especially subway cleaners and that one got a big smile from me) use all the beneficent compassion we can get—so thu je che!

  8. Hey, Coltrane! -- just about a week ago, TG was wondering where you are (the discussion was about music, natch). I said I figured you were just busy and I see that's at least partly true. You know we've missed you, but take care of your eye!

  10. Thank you for the information, Alexa. It confirms that, unless I win at the Loterie (and I never play), I won't get a "garçonnière" in NYC for a while !!
So glad to hear something from you, Coltrane, here and on PDP, I was wondering where you've been and missing your comments. Glad you feel less "under the weather".

Sorry for the mistakes, it's a bit early in France right now, 5 AM, Monday morning ....

  11. I echo everyone's sentiments ~ I've missed you, Coltrane. Do take care of your eye.

    {Marylène, I wish I could write French at any time of the day as well as you write English when you're half asleep!}
