honoring/remembering

Wanted to stop by my local firehouse yesterday.
It's right next door to the food coop, and we've
become pretty attached in the past 7 years.
This station lost 13 out of 30 on 9/11.
Someone actually said to a friend of mine
not too long after the fact, "You New Yorkers
really need to get over it."
Trust me— we deal and we don't dwell,
but we'll NEVER "get over it."

  1. well said Alexa. thanks for keeping your cool but still saying it like it is. I'm not sure I could have been as smart as you, hearing such a thoughtless remark.
    thank you for remembering.

  3. Heroes are never to be forgotten. You were more eloquent in addressing the yahoo's comment than I would have been. Peace to all who gave of so much.
