abc wednesday —D is for "David"

I took this picture of my brother while we were
traveling together in Italy a couple of years ago.

(It's unusual because he's actually standing still.)
In April David lost his heroic five-year battle with
stage-4 cancer—with grace, dignity, and humor,
and surrounded by family and friends. I really miss him.

  1. Condolences.

To paraphrase the faint underwriting on the left, “2 B Sad.”

Thanks to your photo, now even I (and many others of us) have a kind remembrance of David. Memories of him are living on through today’s image.

  12. Thanks to all of you for your kind words—which are very much appreciated. David had more energy than anyone I ever met (how many people do you know who get up from their chemo session and hit the gym?), and he's still sharing it with us—can't explain but trust me.
    (And Shooting Parrots—he would never!)

  14. Oh, I'm so sorry. It's very hard to lose a family member, but it somehow seems worse the more full of life they've been, doesn't it?

I love the picture - and I'd never have noticed the '2 B Sad' if Tall Gary hadn't pointed it out!
