I think they're beautiful (Christmas in July!), but never cook with them. With these things, I find there's a fine line between not enough and too much—and I have no idea where that line is. [To see more Ruby Tuesday posts, go here.] |

Water Lily

In the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, the water lilies are perfectly placed to capture the late-afternoon light. [To see more June flowers, visit Tina's Picstory. To see more shots that catch the light, go here.] |

the end of a perfect meal
Here's a lovely way to top off a delicious lunch— especially if you get to enjoy it on the sunny terrace of a great restaurant and if the restaurant is on the island of Burano, near Venice. (The people who were having this meal looked pretty happy—and so did we, even w/o eating cake.) [To see more "liquid", go to Tina's Picstory. Pink Saturday
Here are some aptly named bleeding hearts (aka Valentine flower). For such small blooms, they make a pretty big statement—I know I look forward to their arrival every spring. [To see more Weekend Flowers, visit Tina's Picstory. To see more Pink Saturday posts, visit Beverly's meme. And since it's the first of the month, I've posted to my Paris blog.] |

Pretty in Pink
The tree peonies have come and gone, and they were spectacular from beginning . . . to end. [To see more Weekend Flowers, visit Tina's Picstory. For more Pink Saturday posts, visit How Sweet the Sound.] |

Tina's Picstory—"interesting"
Well, I thought this was interesting enough to pull out my camera and snap a picture. But hardly anyone else in the vicinity was giving this guy and his well-balanced friend a second glance. That's NYC for you. [To see more interesting things, visit Tina's Picstory.] |

The Bluebell Wood
![]() |
It's that time of year, when the bluebells are in bloom at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. They're pretty sweet on their own ... |
and just amazing when you multiply them by 40,000-plus. [To see more Weekend Flowers, visit Tina's Picstory.] |

Tina's Picstory—"beautiful"
There are so many beautiful things in nature that I didn't even try to choose from among them. As for manmade beauty, this is somewhere very near the top of my list. I could stare at him for hours (and have!). [To see more of Tina's Picstory, go here.] |

The Bold and the Beautiful
![]() |
A few days ago, I showed you an orange tulip that stood out in its simplicity. And it stood out because it was surrounded by these big, blowsy blooms. They do make a statement though, don't they? [To see more Mandarin Orange, visit lorikart. To see more macros, visit Lisa's Chaos. And today, the featured letter at Tina's Picstory is O, for you-know-what.] |

Orange You Glad It's Friday?
![]() |
There are dozens of tulip cultivars blooming in the botanic garden right now, some of an orange so vibrant it almost hurts. This one stood out in its subtlety. [To see more that's orange, visit Maria's meme. To see more "weekend flowers," visit Tina's Picstory.] |

Tina's Picstory—"bottom up"
I was told that medieval cathedrals were decorated to edify and instruct the illiterate faithful. In that case, they could "read" a lot just on Notre Dame's façade alone— as here above the center door, known as the Portal of the Last Judgment. [To see more of Tina's Picstory, go here.] |

FDNY to the rescue
I used a zoom to take this shot from the 32nd floor of a building where I used to work. It was constructed in such a way that you can pretty much hang over the street, with nothing between you and 8th Ave. but the floor-to-ceiling glass. Some of the employees wouldn't get within 10 feet of those windows and some couldn't stay away. You can probably guess which camp I was in. [To see more "from above," visit Tina's Picstory.] |

Tina's picstory—"sun"
The sun was setting on the Piankatank River down in Virginia. The fishermen had left the dock and the geese were coming in to sleep on the beach. And I was on vacation and enjoying a glass of wine with this beautiful view. Life can be very sweet. [To see more "sun" shots, visit Tina's Picstory.] |

Tina's Picstory—"M"
In this case, M is for "mural" (and also maybe "movement"). The first mural to occupy this space at the corner of Houston and Bowery was a 2008 recreation of Keith Haring's famous 1982 Bowery mural. Since then, several artists' works have graced this wall. The latest (since July 2012) is this one by Lady Aiko. [To see more posts that feature the letter M, visit Tina's Picstory.] |

Ruby Tuesday
![]() |
These cactus flowers bloom in the desert habitat at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. I don't know what they are but they're native to Africa (and those stalks are at least six feet tall). [To see more Ruby Tuesday posts, go here. To see more February flowers, visit Tina's Picstory.] |

My favorite view of my favorite rooftops—partly because the ET has no competition from any modern "skyscrapers." But to get this exact view, you have to visit the Centre Pompidou (not my fave Paris museum). [To see more roofs, visit Tina's Picstory.] |
