mwah!

Christmas kisses to all from this boutique
in Buenos Aires' über-hip Palermo
neighborhood—can't wait to be back there
some day very soon (I hope).

les roses roses

Masses of pretty pink roses, for sale at
the Marché d'Aligre, in Paris.
They also had yummy figs (we got 1/2 kilo
for 3 euros) and avocados were six
for 2 euros! I just paid $3
for one avocado here in Brooklyn.

I love the "painted ladies"
of Cape May, N.J.!

Pink Saturday

Peonies and hydrangeas were on display
this past May in the aptly
named Campo de' Fiori, in Rome.

taller than I am*

 . . . *but that's not a hard thing to be.
I found this pretty pop of pink
in picturesque Cape May, New Jersey.

pink lilies

"The rose does best as a rose.
Lilies make the best lilies. And look!
You—the best you around!"

A tasty bite

This was part of a most amazing multi-course
meal that my daughter Katie treated me
to when we were in Rome in February.  Between
each of the courses they would bring us
some yummy little something.  (This one featured
raspberry & pistachio, and I'm not sure what
was inside but it was delicious.)

The chef came out for an intro when we had just
started our dinner; if he'd shown up
near the end, I would have hugged him!

Think pink!

Last month, the Luxembourg Gardens
were a riot of pink—in the flower urns and . . .

everywhere!  It was a glorious sight.

Pink Saturday

At Wolff & Descourtis, in the Galerie Vivienne,
you'll find the most sumptuous
oversized foulards.  Wish I could afford

a whole bunch of them.  (I currently have
not one.  Some day maybe.)

Downtown Oslo

Oslo is a beautiful city, very walkable
and very friendly, with lots of
gardens, fountains, and sculpture to
admire and enjoy.

a rose is a rose is . . .

Right now, in the Cranford Rose Garden
(in the Brooklyn Botanic and one of the
largest collections in North America), there
are more than 1,000 kinds of roses
—both old and modern—in bloom. Some of the
original roses planted in 1927 are still there today!

Pink Saturday

When I was in Virginia last week, we went to
a great waterside restaurant and I had
this shrimp three days out of four.  I'll bet
they're missing us this week.

The Lone Toddler

This is a scary shot if you're familiar with
the big, usually very busy intersection
where it was taken.  On this day, though, they had
closed off Brooklyn's Grand Army Plaza
for a few hours to accommodate the runners
of a half-marathon.  This independent
little person just stuck her hands in her pockets
and marched across the street.

Spring is springing

Or at least it was until the temperature
dropped to 25°F (-4°C) a few
days ago.  I put this shot on Instagram and
an observant friend commented

that it looks like Snuffleupagus from
Sesame Street.  I agree!

It's all about the ribbon

I love wrapping gifts (can you tell?)—I'm
a happy girl
when I'm in the presence of presents.
Hope all of you who celebrated yesterday
had a very Merry Christmas.

And Happy Boxing Day to all my "British Empire" buddies.

Pink Saturday

I came across these beautiful pink flamingos
preening themselves when I visited the
Bronx Zoo recently.  So elegant!

Actually, yes—I found these pale pink beauties
blooming in the garden about a week ago, so . . .

Happy Halloween

Each year my daughter Katie has a
pumpkin-carving party, where everyone
has a good time and goes home
with their own jack-o'-lantern masterpiece.
(I just stopped by for wine and photo ops.)
