up to around 83°F (28°C) here in NYC.

Happy Easter from the Minor Basilica
of San Lorenzo in Lucina, in Rome.
There's been a church on this site since the
5th century, and the current building
dates from the 17th century.
Like many Roman churches, the location
(set cheek by jowl with other buildings)
and fairly simple façade belie
the splendor within.

inSPIREd Sunday

This is the cathedral of Santa Maria dei Fiore,
aka the Duomo, in Florence (I took this picture on
Easter Sunday several years ago).  Easter is celebrated
throughout the city, but here at the Duomo
the service is followed by the colorful—and very noisy—
Explosion of the Cart, a tradition whose roots
date back to the Crusades. (Here's a video.)

Country road

This is where I was last Easter, in the peaceful
Virginia countryside.  Didn't make it down there
this time, but I did manage to get out of
the city.  How did you spend the weekend?

It's almost Easter.  Have you colored some
eggs?  Stocked up on chocolate bunnies?
Bought flowers?  To me, this is the
quintessential Easter flower.

Florence.  I think this young Florentine is just
gorgeous (as so many Florentines are)—
and I love those Easter "bonnets."
