the color of daybreak

When I was in North Carolina last month,
the first sunrise I got up for was so
spectacular that I roused myself before dawn

and hiked +/- a mile to the beach
 a couple more times.  This
 was the start
of
my reward on one of those mornings.

Orange, VA

Drove through the town of Orange, Virginia,
last weekend and snapped this shot of
their pretty little train station—which used
to be very important here, but not so much now
that the trains don't stop here any more.
What interested me was that receptacle that
sort of looks like a mailbox; in fact, it's
for recycling used American flags.

The Bold and the Beautiful

A few days ago, I showed you an orange tulip that
stood out in its simplicity.  And it stood out
because it was surrounded by these big, blowsy
blooms.  They do make a statement though, don't they?

Thursday Challenge—"orange"

'Tis the season in my fave garden.
Took this shot the week before Sandy
descended and haven't been there since
(mainly because it was closed for cleanup).

Thursday Challenge — "orange"

It's orange—but do you know what it is?

photo hunt — "orange"

The day after a couple of tornadoes blew through here last
month, the big orange forestry trucks (yes, NYC has a Dept.
of Forestry—who knew?) were out in force.  Before the day was
half over the only evidence of what had happened was a lot of
"Caution" tape and a mountain of mulch! (And of course some
empty spaces where beautiful old trees used to be—sigh.)

The same spot 18 hours earlier.

Photo Hunter — "orange"

These monks are probably a long way
from home—I found them on the
Brooklyn Bridge. And I love their
billowy saffron robes!
