That's My World Tuesday

It's the 65th anniversary of the famous photo
(taken on V-J Day by Alfred Eisenstadt) that's depicted
by this statue in Times Square.  The
nurse—Edith Shain was her name—just died this
past June at the age of 91.  Though dozens
of men have claimed to be the kissing sailor, he
has never been positively identified.

  2. The Unknown Kisser; just like the Unknown Soldier. Both have their places in history. I'm sure you're familiar with Le Baiser de l'Hotel de ville. I think those identities are known, though am not sure.

  3. The statue's wonderful against that backdrop. 91 is a good innings ~ maybe we should all head out and kiss a sailor.
