Happy Hanukkah—
This is Central Synagogue, at Lexington
and 55th. It was built in 1872 in the
Moorish Revival style (as a copy of this one
in Budapest) and has been in continuous
use by a congregation longer than any
other synagogue in NYC.

That's a really interesting contrast between those two buildings. Love looking at the sky, too. Happy skywatching....
ReplyDeletei love the composition.
ReplyDeleteOne of the things I love in NYC ! The way totally different buildings can "co-habiter" so nicely (?) and make a unique ambiance !
ReplyDeleteMarianne and I passed this one this summer. I like your angle.
ReplyDeleteI love the way this synagoge stands out against the more modern grey building and the matching grey sky.
ReplyDeletePTDD!!! And such a wonderful juxtaposition, as observed by your other thoughtful commenters. Have a gorgeous weekend, Alexa! {PS: I've raided your photos again...}
ReplyDeleteThanks, all!
ReplyDeleteAnd Shell—as always, raid away!
