This pretty little church was established back in 1842, in Rocky Mount, in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. Some of my VA cousins sing in the choir here. {Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah to all who are celebrating today!} [To see more churches from around the world, go here.] |

Skywatch Friday
Happy Hanukkah—
This is Central Synagogue, at Lexington
and 55th. It was built in 1872 in the
Moorish Revival style (as a copy of this one
in Budapest) and has been in continuous
use by a congregation longer than any
other synagogue in NYC.

festival of lights
Yesterday was the last night of Hanukkah, and
friends had their annual party—complete with
fabulous latkes and babka, adorable small
children, and candle lighting. This is part of
their collection of beautiful menorahs.
