abc wednesday —E is for "elephant"

This prodigious pachyderm, called "Gran Elefandret,"
is the work of sculptor Miguel Barcelo and will be up
(literally!) here in Union Square until the end of May.
Now, about those numbers in the background: I told
some nice tourists who were here that it's the national
debt—but I lied (sorry). I believe NYU has
finally given me the definitive answer

[To see more abc Wednesday, go here.]

  1. That's an interesting sculpture!

  2. I laughed before it completely downloaded.

Looks like someone lost its grip. But what a save! Nice landing!

  3. It has a couple hours until sunset. I’m sure it’ll make it back into its nest OK now.

  4. I just love this elephant. My skin would look the same if I could do a headstand....

  5. The elephant is EXCELLENT, but I also love the clock story.

  6. SO COOL!!!! I love Union Square and always wondered about those numbers. Thanks, have a great week.

  7. Whoa, I wonder they built it in that position.

E is for Entertainment, please come and see.

  8. Hah! So interesting!

  9. An acrobatic elephant, what fun. I like the concept of the clock, the question is what do you say if someone asks you the time?

  10. Nothing like a good solid trunk :-) And very interesting about the clock.

Thanks, merci, grazie, danke, hvala, gracias, spasibo, shukran, dhanyavaad, salamat, arigato, and muito obrigado for your much-appreciated comments.
