abc wednesday —E is for "elephant"

This prodigious pachyderm, called "Gran Elefandret,"
is the work of sculptor Miguel Barcelo and will be up
(literally!) here in Union Square until the end of May.
Now, about those numbers in the background: I told
some nice tourists who were here that it's the national
debt—but I lied (sorry). I believe NYU has
finally given me the definitive answer

Mellow Yellow Monday

I saw these adorable hats at the holiday
market in Union Square (just one of many
around the city
). Was kind of tempted by
the penguin number, but then
I regained my sanity and walked on.

Walk in the Street

Andy Warhol's getting another 15 minutes.
This life-size chrome statue, by sculptor
Rob Pruitt, stands (until next month, I hear) in
Union Square, very near the site of the Factory
(the one from the '70s), across the park from Max's Kansas City
(where I met him in the '60s), and very close to where
he used to stand and hand out copies of Interview.

Thursday Challenge — "messy"

Saw this truck parked in Union Square.
Some would say it's a hot mess,
others might call it art.
Where do you stand?
