Traveling Tuesdays/Our World

This pretty little balcony sits behind one of
the jewelry shops on Florence's Ponte Vecchio.
To me, it's begging for a table and a
couple of chairs, where the folks who

work in that shop can take a break.

Here's a long shot, taken in
another, greener season.

  1. Never having been there (thanks for instilling an intense desire to remedy that) I am guessing that you caught its most flattering profile. So much better than full-frontal face.

Looks like it might have inspired some of the architecture in Hayao Miyazaki’s anime “Castle in the Sky.”

I found it interesting that “the nobility” used the upper Vasari Corridor to cross over the river while avoiding the hoi polloi.

It looks like there is a folding white-topped table on your creaky-looking balcony. If you were to befriend the proprietors of the shop you just might find yourself right there taking with pleasure little (but many) sips of this.

  2. I think I see a folded-up table in the first shot, and it's a pretty one. Those colors are gorgeous; I'd sit out there. Or even stand.

  3. Someone sure has a green thumb and takes pride in creating their own little "green space."

  8. Was looking at some old photos of China when this bridge made me think of your Ponte Vecchio. The Chinese seem to have their hands in everything. Hands? Or perhaps palms—as in potted palms.
