Me & Julio

I love the real NY neighborhoods, where the guys
come down to the schoolyard after dinner for a
friendly game of b-ball.  This is the West Village
(where all the neighbors who aren't part of this
pick-up game are the A-list movie stars who've
come to roost in this part of town.

  1. And all the exiled aristocrats are in Brooklyn Heights? The things I learn from blogs. You have now stuck that song in my head, but it is a good one, and a good one for your shot.

  2. US Elaine is right, Alexa. That song does stick in one's head like an 8-year-old's-forgotten-gum-in the-hair-at-an-overnight- sleepover. That or getting one's kicks by listening to all the darned cities named in "Route 66." I do love the link frame. Takes us right in on the action. Ah, then there's good old John Sebastian's..."Welcome back, your dreams were your ticket out. Welcome back, to that same old place that you laughed about..." Hey, don't blame me. Who invited the cat to Woodstock?

Now, Alexa, about that tattoo thing you mentioned in yesterday's post...;-)

  3. I know that you have a digital camera but this looks like "Kodachrome." I see "Leaves that are Green." One of those guys looks like "A Most Peculiar Man." In fact, that's not a man, it's "Mrs. Robinson." She's the one who chauffeurs the infant of an A-list, unnamed celebrity. You might call her a "Baby Driver." In fact, she once drove the kid all the way to Elvis' pad in Memphis ("fill in the blank"). She knows the streets of New York better than any taxi driver. If you need to ditch the paparazzi after a secret tryst, she knows about "50 Ways to Leave Your Lover." Driving's just her day job though. I overheard her say in a "Dangling Conversation" "Wednesday Morning at 3:00 A.M." "At the Zoo" that, "'I am a Rock' star now, or soon, but I when I was crazy I used to work down at the local grocery store as 'The Boxer.' Name's 'Cecelia' nice to meet'cha. But 'You Can Call me Al.' Come to think about it maybe I'm 'Still Crazy after All These Years'."

  4. uselaine -- yes, this town is just lousy with so-called celebs!

coltrane -- and how about all the places Johnny Cash sings about in "I've Been Everywhere"??
About the tattoo, the short story is: It's an Om, and it's on my ankle.

tg --"Congratulations", you are definitely crazy! On the other hand,"Late in the Evening", "I Know What I Know", and I think "You're Kind". (Okay, it's really late, so I'm stopping there.)
