Something wrong with my old computer forbids me to listen to the songs on your links but, just with your picture, I can feel the ambiance and the "move". You're so lucky , here in France, we get free concerts mainly on the "Fête de la musique" and that's it. One question : what is the average price for concerts in the US ? My last experience : we paid more than 75 € (105 $)to see Robbie Williams at Bercy, for that price I got numbered(?) seats but still binoculars were mandatory to appreciate all his tattoos !
Alexa, you're really making me jealous. I hope you know that. Not only great music, but you are getting to see it FREE! Thanks for sharing [or for throwing salt on my wound of envy] ;-) I gigged last night at a coffee house and our crowd was less than 20 people. We did well on tips, but it was almost like playing for FREE. ;-)
sorry, coltrane -- and there was a cool band on the steps of the Brooklyn Library this afternoon—so close to my house that I could still hear them at home. (I took a picture for you & will post it anon.)
marylene -- there's so much free music in NYC, I admit I haven't paid to go to a concert in a long time. But I think they're pretty expensive, especially for a big name—sometimes hundreds of dollars. I just remembered I paid to see Manu Chao last summer. It was an outdoor venue, and not terribly expensive. ($45, I think, and you had to get there early to grab a seat. We didn't even bother to try and everyone was on their feet dancing anyway.)
