ABC Wednesday—D is for "depth of field"

I took this picture this way on purpose,
but now I'm wondering if I should have chosen
a smaller aperture to bring the lady out there in 
the harbor into sharper focus too. What do you think?

Thursday Challenge—"transportation"

I think the best mode of transportation in NYC
is your own two feet.  That said, you'd have
a hard time walking from Manhattan to Staten
Island.  Fortunately, we have these swell ferries 
that still run all night—and are still free.

The other day as I walked home over the
Brooklyn Bridge, I had to keep stopping to
turn around and shoot this dramatic
sky that seemed to be changing every second.

Yet another reason why I'm not sorry that I don't drive!
Would much rather be walking across the Brooklyn Bridge,
looking at this sunset (and Lady Liberty out in the harbor)
while those poor folks down there inch their way along.

the drama!  And, yes, that is the Statue of Liberty there on the left.

I was on the ferry riding between lower

Manhattan and Governor's Island, turned 

around, and saw . . . this!

If you blow it up you'll see that the

amazing light is shining down on

Lady Liberty and Ellis Island.

Island ferry at dusk—there was just

enough light left to get a shot of

This should probably be called "Smogwatch" Friday!

Took this from the Brooklyn Bridge early on an

overcast morning.  Made me want to hurry to my

airless office—or buy an oxygen mask.  We're

no doubt breathing this stuff in every day—scary!

Lady Liberty

Not the first (or probably the last, to be

honest) time that I feature this beautiful lady.

But this time, she's shown from 

a different vantage point: Red Hook,

Brooklyn, my new fave neighborhood.

She looks pretty cold out there in the snow.

And so do these LL wannabes in Battery Park—
and they are. (My hands were so cold, I could
hardly take this picture.)
