ABC Wednesday—D is for "delicious"

Saw these gorgeous green-and-purple artichokes
for sale at the market in Campo de' Fiori.
Then we had them for lunch at Il Giardino Romano,
a restaurant in Rome's ex-ghetto that is
justifiably famous for their carciofi alla Giuda.

ABC Wednesday—D is for "democracy"

Last night I joined a few thousand of my
neighbors here in Brooklyn and we
made our voices
 heard loud and clear;
apparently, we'll be doing this here
on
a weekly basis.  God bless an America

where you can still do that.

ABC Wednesday—D is for "drone"

This one was launched in Battery Park, by a
kid who looked to be about 10!
What's going to happen when everyone
has one of these, I wonder?

ABC Wednesday—D is for "daydreaming"

Now, how did that Kinks song go?
Oh, right.

ABC Wednesday—D is for "dormer"

Hope the owners of this pretty window
(also in Giverny) don't mind that I left the
cute little lizard but "removed" the
satellite dish.  (Their house, but my blog.)

ABC Wednesday—D is for "dragon fruit"

Seems an apt name for these funky fruits,
which were on display in Chinatown.
I've never tasted them, but I'm told they
have a very mild flavor (a bit unexpected
considering the fancy "packaging").

ABC Wednesday—D is for "dead end"

Took this shot while riding through Brooklyn
on the train.  Reminds me of a street used
by Spike Lee in one of his movies—don't remember

which, but probably Do the Right Thing.
He filmed that movie entirely on location in
Bedford-Stuyvesant, so maybe it is.

ABC Wednesday—D is for "depth of field"

I took this picture this way on purpose,
but now I'm wondering if I should have chosen
a smaller aperture to bring the lady out there in

the harbor into sharper focus too. What do you think?

ABC Wednesday—D is for "Duty-Free"

This overpriced (duty-free or not) little item
would make an interesting addition to my
Eiffel Tower collection.  So did I buy it?
I did not—fortunately, someone already
gave me one of these.  I never shop the
Duty Free; I hang on to my leftover euros
and just assume I'll be back.  So far, so good.
