Trying to memorize Gershwin's "Summertime" (like with six notes it's some kind of big deal, which, at my age, sadly, it is). Hoping to get it sounding wicked.
Must be like like walking through a cemetery, half a day before another resurrection dress rehearsal, being in the theater district when it is so "dead."
uselaine -- Manon in Budapest? That takes the glamour prize.
Actually, this shot was taken a couple of years ago, on the first day of a major-pain-in-the-butt transit strike. Since there was no subway and no buses, I couldn't figure out why there weren't more cars on the street—even at o'dark-thirty in the morning, when I took this.
It has an eerie quality...but that's usually my typical world view right before I have to teach in the morning. My brain kicks in daily around 10am and around noon I try to figure out what I have been lecturing about for the previous four hours.

tg -- nice to see you in the SoCal PDP pix.
ReplyDeleteAnd glad to see you here -- I was feeling a bit Manon Lascaux-ish!
So much for the city that never sleeps. Burst my bubble there.
ReplyDeleteManon Lascaux?! The only opera I ever saw in person, in its entirety. In Budapest - how's that for glamor. 8^)
