Shopping in Budapest

Meats and cheeses for sale at the Sunday Market
at Szimpla Kért (which I've shown before):
One thing that struck me as just a bit unsanitary
was that all of the food I saw for sale in various markets
was just sitting out there uncovered.
(Or maybe I've become
too accustomed to American over-packaging.)

  1. "The Road Is Mine" has been included in our Sites To See #409. Be assured that we hope this helps to point many new visitors in your direction.

  2. Disease is not a worry with the meat because it looks like most of it has already been “cured.”

As for the cheese: leaving it out could allow it to go from just good to rarified gourmet. But closer to home there is always Pálpusztai. Count yourself lucky if he jumps up on the counter and serves you the cheese with his bare feet.

  3. Budapest? Uncovered food? Yip, makes sense, happens across the African continent too.
Lovely site, recommended by Jerry, I'll be sure to pop in again.

  4. Loved Budapest. I agree everything here is in styrofoam and plastic. Much more fun shopping at these kinds of markets.
