Shadow Shot Sunday

One of the beautiful arcades of the
University of Virginia, in Charlottesville. It was planned
(and founded) by our 3rd president, Thomas Jefferson
—but it was built on farmland that belonged

to our 5th president, James Monroe.

    SHADOW, SHADOW

    Shadow, shadow drawing near,
    You are all alone, I fear;
    Let me be your new-found friend—
    I’ll stick with you to the end!

  6. There is a professor in the history department here whom I thought would be our first black POTUS: Julian Bond. It wasn’t that off the wall of an idea.

    But I attended a talk he gave about recorded rhythm and blues music that was nothing but dry data. Not a single anecdote during the entire presentation. I changed my mind about him.
