light a candle

What—another birthday?
Yup, this time it's mine.
I'd just as soon ignore them at this
point, but my friends and family
won't let me—so I might as well
go public (and enjoy all that cake!).

  1. Happy birthday, Alexa.
I almost never comment on your blog although I've been addicted to my daily page of New York for more than a year now !
But, this time, I couldn't go without sending my best wishes for your birthday.
    What are they, BTW ?
Mine for you would be, in addition to the traditional ones, of good health, good job .... to meet in person, maybe in Paris, maybe once during a PDP gathering.
Thank you for sharing with us this amazing city. I've spent only a weekend in NY but really fell in love with the "athmosphère", the energy of the city.

  2. I wish I could wish you happy birthday in the style of Tall Gary's clip but I'm laughing too hard to pull it off {and I'm fresh out of clown makeup}. So, I'll stick with the more traditional Happy Birthday, Alexa! Have a mighty fine one. It's pretty the way that window of cakes has little Tinkerbell-like sparkles here and there. Mmm. Cake. Et bonjour, Marylène!

  3. Happy Birthday! I want you to tell us exactly what kind of cake you are having. Right now, my tastebuds are leaning toward lemon, but I think that's because I've just been to Jilly's Citrus Festival in Menton.

  4. A gift of eye candy from one Pisces (a certain tall person's late grandma) to another. Maxfield Parrish's life pretty much encompassed both grandparents. The male of the species came off at times as a rigidly stiff and conservative Dutchman, yet my sweet grandmother had this image on the living room wall.

    {Just to make things a wee bit more confectionary to go with your photo.}

  5. Thanks, everyone!

Marylene -- It's good to know you check in. Thanks so much for your good wishes. One of mine is the same as yours—I'd love to meet you in Paris during a PDP gathering (one of these years for sure).

TG -- it's a good thing I made pit stop before I looked at your first link! As for the second, that's amazing, because I love Parrish. I have this one in my apartment—and it was originally in my grandparents' house.

Shell -- what are we going to do w/him??

Bibi -- the little applesauce carrot cake on the upper left in the sparkly case. How's Menton?
