Once upon a time (i.e., when I lived in Paris), there weren't this many chairs to be found in the Jardin du Luxembourg—even on a chilly day. You were also expected to pay for the privilege of parking yourself in one of them (1 franc, if I recall—the equivalent of 20–25 cents).
