N.J.

Is it just perception, or is this really what
New Jersey looks like?  Well, parts of the
state are downright bucolic.  But this IS
also the Jersey I know (it's a little
film noir-ish, no?).

  2. Poor New Jersey, everyone pokes fun at her. I actually have fond childhood memories of vacations at the shore there....it may not be the same now.

  3. Gary -- will delete you if you say so, though reluctantly. Think "The Killers" may be what I had in mind when I put New Jersey and film noir together, though I haven't seen it in a zillion years.

bibi -- Actually, I took this from the train as I was on my way to the Jersey shore—which is also a bit of a cliché, but still beautiful (especially in winter).

  4. Thanks, Alexa. Glad to see the intruder above now gone.

By the way, when you use the words "New Jersey" and "bucolic" in the same sentence. This is what comes to my mind, But I'm with you, Alexa, on your stereotypical image. That's exactly my unknowing impression.

Your photo makes up for a dearth of pines with a surfeit of post-industrial barrens.

The beginning of The Killers looks a bit on the rural side but New Jersey it certainly is represented to be.

Will we get a view of the Jersey shore (as opposed to the Guernsey shore)?

  6. Alexa...I was thinking the same thing. Tall GMan is now the new President "Linkin"...hey, they're both tall. ;-) New Jersey for me personally brings back one summer I spent there at the US Coast Guard's Basic Training, Cape May. It was basically summer camp. lol Then I was sent to Mobile, Alabama. ALABAMA? Yeah, I am still scratching my head over that one. lol
