I never knew he had a chance to begin his meal. re, the police profile, it always makes me laugh when I see policemen eating donuts & I've seen this often. I think If I were a cop, I'd be right there with them.
My brother (who's married to a bona fide Italian- American) points out that scungilli with clam sauce makes no sense. He's right—I think the guy was either eating scungilli and clams or scungilli with marinara sauce. Either way, he never got to finish it—and he was on his way home from his birthday celebration too.
TG -- You're probably right. It was definitely scungilli and something. I picture him being forced to listen to Lawrence Welk music and saying, "I can't stand this stuff—somebody shoot me please!"

ReplyDeleteI enjoy hearing bits and pieces of local history!
What a perfect restaurant for a mob hit. It even has what looks like an open grave in front.
ReplyDeleteOoh. Bibi. I like your pun, but you know, as much as I like puns, that one made even me groan (with pleasure).

You guys are a hoot.
I read at Wiki that scungilli are whelks. I wonder if Crazy Joe Gallo died listening to Lawrence's accordion polka music.
ReplyDeleteJust out: Crazy Joe was eating shrimp and scungilli salad (according to this).
