how a born-and-bred New York liberal
would be feeling today).  Oy.

Each year my daughter Katie has a 
pumpkin-carving party, where everyone
has a good time and goes home
with their own jack-o'-lantern masterpiece. 
(I just stopped by for wine and photo ops.)

Trick or Treat!

My daughter Katie and her friends had their
usual pre-Halloween pumpkin-carving party.
After last year, Kate decided to keep things
more simple—that's hers on the left.

Orange You Glad It's Friday?

I have to brag a bit on my daughter Kate, who has some 
mad pumpkin-carving skills.  She's used stencils in the past, 
but this year she decided to execute and carve her own design.
It took her +/- 10 hours (with wrist rests).  Unfortunately, that's 
also about how long this masterpiece lasted before it imploded.  
(At least she got a decent picture of it!)

Thursday Challenge—"dress up"

This homemade ET was all set to march 
in NYC's fabulous Halloween parade.  
Have to admit that I took this shot in 
2011—our parade was postponed 
this year because of Hurricane Sandy.

Ruby Tuesday

With so many people marching in our annual
Halloween parade, there are some amazing
costumes—but I just liked this guy's style.

He was joined later by about 50,000 fellow revelers
(and I was just as happy to be 10 flights up!).

Mellow Yellow Monday

Watched New York's famous annual Halloween Parade from the

safety of an apartment 10 floors above the craziness.  From what

I could see, these folks—dressed as the recently rescued Chilean 

miners, with their rescue pod—were a huge crowd favorite.

Shadow Shot Sunday

Practically every stoop in my neighborhood 
looks like this right now.  Hope 
you all have a happy a safe halloween!

Shadow Shot Sunday

Little bit of a challenge here. Had to have
a shadow or two, and my friend Lily wanted
a shot of our famous Halloween parade (for
which I have front row seats—though 10 flights
up, in the nosebleed section, which makes it a
bit harder to get a clear picture in the dark).
Think this qualifies on both counts—and every
year there are a few folks who go this route.
Why not? All you need is a body suit, a hot-glue
gun and a bunch of glo-stix. Easy and effective.

Halloween encore

My brother's band, the Lone Sharks, kept Halloween
going for one more night with a party on Shelter Island.
Everyone caught the last ferry off the island.

Trick or Treat

It's New York's fabulous Halloween parade,

three hours of you-name-it! I love it because

I can enjoy it from 10 flights up—and I don't

have to find a costume. The highlight for me

was 200 or so people (with Michael out front

in red) all dancing to "Thriller." (I put a picture

here, but you kind of had to be there.)
