Ruby Tuesday

I love what they've done with this stoop!
Whoever lives in this brownstone
knows how to play with color.

  1. As it happens, I know exactly what is the favorite reading material of the mistress of the house. Your capture, and that stoop certainly conquered me.

I like how the red flowers at the bottom of the stoop pick up on the reds of the door(s).

The colors are so regal. It is not hard to imagine them used in some kind of cloisonné.

  3. I love that shade of red! ... is it cardinal red with undertones of deep crimson ... Oh! to have a door in that colour.

  4. It would be hard to pass by a door like that without a second or even a fourth look!

  5. Dianne sure nailed it with her cardinal and deep crimson.

As an alternative, not knowing what these colors look like when struck by direct sunlight, I might try rubine red. A variation of crimson can be found in bright maroon (maroon [crayola]). If I were looking at color swatches, trying to decide on a red door color, I would go with Dianne’s cardinal (with whatever she mixed it with).

  6. Hey, TG -- I don't know exactly what this color is, but I think you've come closest with rubine (what?) red. I like your new profile pic—and I found your blog!

  8. Beautiful. Chelsea? West village? St.Luke's Place may be?

  9. I do, too. Some people can turn anything into a garden! That looks like a stoop where I'd like to sit and chat with a friend or husband.

  10. Pierre -- It's in my neighborhood, of course—beautiful Park Slope, Brooklyn.
