Thursday Challenge—"red"

Spotted in Budapest last September—this
work, called "Still Life With (removable) Bacon,"
by the Hungarian artist Franyo
Aatoth
(btw, Aatoth is his first name; in Hungary
names are said last first)
.

The first thing you see . . .

when you walk in the main gate of the
Brooklyn Botanic Garden is a huge circular
planter filled with dozens and dozens of
pink and red tulips. (What's just out of view
are the dozens of people posing in front of it.)

Thursday Challenge: red

Red, you say?  I snapped this shot last
November on rue Montorgeuil—one of
Paris's wonderful market streets—of
red tables, red chairs, a red awning, a red
building . . . and some red roses!

On the Rialto

This fish market in Venice is one of my favorite places to take photos.
Best time to do that is very early in the morning, before the
market actually opens. The guy on the far right was there
for the same reason I was—but he had a real camera.
I recently heard a nasty rumor that some folks want to
move this market to the mainland. I wonder whose very bad
idea that was (and I wonder how I could stop them, if ever)!

This week's Thursday Photo Challenge is "red" and
the theme for Theme Thursday is "wonder."

Thursday Challenge — "red"

I used to work right around the corner from this great place,
where you could just order a plate of black-eyed peas and
fresh tomatoes, and they had the biggest collection of
hot sauces north of New Iberia, Louisiana.

Now New York magazine tells me this:

"The grubby old Cajun spot has been redone as an elegant
candlelit restaurant-cum-lounge with a serious
New Nordic menu from Danish chef Mads Refslund."

So I know where to go for a pricey cocktail
and a $15 plate of clams.  I'm sure it's delicious,
but I want my grubby old Cajun back!

Thursday Challenge — "red"

Something to look forward to!  I had some nice shots
of spots of red in our latest pile o' snow (a buried car,
a girl in a ski jacket, berries)—but as lovely as it is,
I'm a bit over it and vow not to complain about the
heat and humidity when this comes around again!

Oh, okay—I'll add those
berries (but only because
they're so pretty in the snow).
