Thursday Challenge—"leaves"

This time last year, I had just returned home
from Paris, where I took this shot of a carpet of fallen
leaves in a pretty little pocket park in the Marais.
As happy as I am to travel to Paris, today I'm grateful to 
be right here where I'll enjoy a turkey dinner with 
family and friends.  If you're celebrating Thanksgiving, 
I hope you're with the ones you love too.

ABC Wednesday—T is for "traffic"

And also for Thanksgiving, of course.  If you're going
somewhere this holiday weekend, I hope you
don't get stuck in a mess like this!  I also hope you
have lots to be thankful for—I know I do.

Thursday Challenge—"thankful"

I try to be grateful for the big and the small things, 
and today I'm thankful that my sister-in-law is cooking 
our favorite meal of the year, my brother is carving
the turkey, my kids are with me, my mom made it
through the storm even if her house didn't, 
and we're all together. Happy Thanksgiving!

Mellow Yellow/Macro Monday

At the local greenmarket this past weekend,
everyone was shopping for their Thanksgiving
dinner—buying parsnips, yams, green beans.

Thursday Challenge — "soft"

It's a Turkey Day classic—that didn't quite work out.
By the time it was cooked, most of this soft and gooey
sweet potato-and-marshmallow concoction
wound up at the bottom of the oven.
Oh well—the part we managed to salvage was de-lish!

Happy Thanksgiving to all my American friends!  

I'm missing my family's scrumptious turkey dinner, but 

I'm very thankful that I got to come back to Italy this 

year—and ride down the Grand Canal on the vaporetto, 

and dream of living in a place like this! 

Home domani (sigh).

dinner. God bless my sister-in-law for
taking us all on—she even makes this
turkey-day fave. Looks downright
bizarre here, but, aaah, when it comes
out of the oven all ooey and gooey . . .

definitely need two 4,000-calorie meals in one
