whirling dervish

Last week was Fashion Week here in NYC,
and one day I encountered three photo shoots on my
morning commute over the Brooklyn Bridge.
This model reminded me of a whirling dervish . . .

she was beautiful, graceful, and fierce.

  1. Ooh. The way you caught the light on the head covering.

The model certainly has my head all a-spin.

I was surprised to learn that the Whirling Dervishes owe their founding to the Sufi poet Rumi.

“In your light I learn the art of loving.
In your beauty, the art of poetry.
    You dance deep within me,
    Unseen by anyone,
But when I join with your movements
    Our dance becomes this dance.”

  2. Neat shots.
Makes me think of Ms. Havisham.

  3. Indeed she does look like a whirling dervish... I'll be back visiting more often now.
