Today's Flowers

There are more than 6,000 tulips in bloom

in the loooong annual border at
the Brooklyn Botanic Garden right now.
With mostly yellow and orange and white cultivars
this year,
 these (called 'Pittsburgh') stood out.

Happy Mother's Day to all the mamas out there!

  1. I am rather fond of red and magenta together, and these with the added bonus of, what, lilac or something? Well, you made my day.

For shear beauty of this and the Park Avenue median it is easy to understand people going all tulip maniacal. (There are indications of a movie with this incorporated in it coming out this year.)

There is a new exotic cultivar that is so new they even changed the spelling to more aptly suit it.
