Yikes!—where's the bug spray?
This cool (or creepy—your choice)) model of
an anapheles mosquito has been on display
at the Museum of Natural History since 1917.
The overall chiaroscuro and colors are really nice in your photo.
Not to worry. When they get that big their eyesight goes haywire, as you can see from this guy who had to be scraped off the side of a building it didn’t notice, here.
Yikes! My son thought this was a cool picture... We recently visited NY but I couldn't talk my family into going... Next time - lol Hugs, Antonella :-) P.S. I am also participating in SSS2, and I've created a free printable / digi with the shadow quote this week... join me here: http://quilling.blogspot.com/2012/01/simply-sunday-shadow-shot-january-8.html
Excellent photo. The size of the mosquito reminds me of those old sci-fi movies where "radiation" created giant insects that tried to take over the earth.
Even tiny mosquitoes are annoying. I can't imagine having to tolerate one this big!
A SHADOW THE SIZE OF THE SUN
If I had a shadow the size of the sun, I’m not sure how fast I’d be able to run, Or if I could flee from its ravenous jaws, While keeping away from its razor-sharp claws!
yikes is right! I'd hate to get bit by this mosquito.
ReplyDeleteYikes (3)!

That is quite an unnerving sight! Those long legs cast some rather impressive shadows!
ReplyDeleteEgads! Gives me the creeps, not to mention what it must do to these guys.

Glad it is in a museum. They are big here, but not that extreme.
ReplyDeleteThis museum was a short distance from my grandparents and I remember many adventures there as a young child.
ReplyDeleteThis is a bit scary and he would be difficult to swat!
