Shadow Shot Sunday

I found this guy hanging around the Museum
of Natural History. It's a Japanese spider
crab (Macrocheira kampferi), which can be
13 feet (4 meters) from the tip of one
outstretched leg to another. Pretty impressive—
and it throws a mean shadow too!

    An aptly named creature; or, considering all those sharp, knife-like shadows in your so striking photo, would it more appropriately be called a ninja crab?

  3. Yikes, double trouble. It reminds me of the Indiana Jones movies. Except that they weren't Japanese. And I'm not sure that there were any crabs... Never mind.
