My daughter Lila captured this one of the sky and these towering icebergs reflected in the glassy waters of Antarctica's Southern Ocean. [To see more Skywatch shots, go here. To see more Weekend Reflections, visit James's meme.]
Words of praise are mere useless vanity compared to this image. Actually being there must have been like physically entering the most amazingly 3-D computer graphics, only far, far better. (We haven’t gotten to 3-D 5S yet). The sounds of quiet water, breathing the cold air into their lungs, brilliant sunshine, and all the other sensory experiences we have little idea of, yet we feel thrilled at the surreal spectacle before us.
Thank you for this window into a world I could never imagine. Thanks Alexa. Thanks Lila.
I want to go there. And my blood freezes when it drops below 50F, so that tells you how much I love Lila's photo. What majesty. Happy weekend, dear Alexa!
OMG! That is so beautiful! I had been to Alaska and have seen ice floating on the sea. It has been a dream to visit Antarctica for me. Your picture pushes me to go there! Your daughter has done a very good job with the picture!
Magnificent examples of nature and a great photo.
