In Memoriam

This is the police memorial, located on the
esplanade behind the World Financial Center,
not very far from the site of the twin towers.
There are more than 700 names inscribed
here—of all the NYPD officers who have
lost their lives in the line of duty . . .

. . . including the 23 who died on 9/11.

[Today is also Ruby Tuesday. To see more, go here.]

  1. That's a lot of precious lives. Thank heavens for those who give up so much ~ sometimes everything ~ to protect others. This is a beautiful tribute.

  4. So sad to see these names of those who are no more....I thought of it all today at around 2:30 or so my time.

  5. Eleven years already. It seems it was yesterday so this day stays engraved deep in our memories. We won't forget.

  6. As the plaques across Paris remind us... "never forget." It was another war, another time, but the message is the same. What a sad day in our history.
