The Weekend in Black and White

A beautiful brick building in Red Hook,
Brooklyn—they just don't make
them like this anymore.

  3. Cool! The top door is broken, which makes a good accent.

  6. I love all those textures. Also the reinforcing stars and the shutters. You're right, they don't make them like this any more.

  7. The building has a lot of character and your caption is totally apt.

But, looking at it out of the corner of my eye, it reminds me of a beach scene. Arched opening here perhaps, although I can’t be sure. My trifocals are out of whack.

I wonder if there is a pool hall on the ground floor.

  8. The shapes of the windows and shutters ground the busy brickwork beautifully. And I love the stars ~ an unexpected touch! I hope you're having a lovely weekend, Alexa.
