Red as a Radish

A pile of peppery radishes at the Farmers' Market—
I learned in France that they are delish all by
themselves but even better if you cut the sharp
flavor with a bit of butter.  Trust the French, who
know that everything tastes better with butter!

[Today is Ruby Tuesday. To see more, go here.]

  2. Which one is it? I love Union Square Farmers'market, where I always stop in my meanderings, for some yummy ginger cookies!

  3. They look very healthy, Alexa, and I'm all for a touch of good old natural butter with reasonable frequency! {And thanks to Pierre, I need some ginger cookies.}

  4. I have always loved radishes - just like they are...or in a tuna salad, or any other kind of salad! I have never heard of eating them with butter though! This is a lovely bunch of radishes!

  7. Pierre -- this is the Farmers' Market at Grand Army Plaza, in Brooklyn—held every Saturday just a few steps from my house. Not quite as big as the Union Square market, but there's bread, fish, meat, cheese, flowers, and other good things in addition to veggies.

  10. I think they are definitely better with butter on a slice of crunch baguette. And as Gerard Depardieu said to Queen Latifah in Last Holiday, "The secret of life is buh-tair'. How true.
