'tis the season

Went with friends David and Michael to get
a Christmas tree. Included in the deal
was a big bag of birdseed (?).  We browsed
a bit—and we were definitely enchanted.
So is your tree real or fake?

  1. I love those religious figures!
We get a real tree, it's my favorite decoration.
& yes, lucky for us, my bro is "On" LI!

  2. Gee, odd juxtaposition of Mary, Joseph, traffic cones, and signs! --My tree is artificial. We'd bought potted ones for years, but when planted, they died, despite our care, so....

  3. Mine has always been always real, real, real !!
Tried everything, had some disappointments :
Potted ones that died, like Bibi's ones, despite our efforts.
A small traditional cut one, when living in an apartment in Paris, but just once because of the many hours spent with tweezers trying to remove all the needles (?) from the carpet !!!
And now, every year, a bigger Norman (?) one, that has only benefits except the missing scent, kindly provided by IKEA (yes, I dare to go there even in December !
You buy it, get a note and, if you bring it back beginnig of January, you get a coupon of its price minus one Euro, given for charity, you have to spend in their store before March, which is really never an issue.

  4. Fake for the last 7-10 years, because real ones cost too much and are harder for me to get into place. My 7 & 1/2 foot pencil tree is just right.

  5. Finally bought a fake tree last year, much to my children's chagrin. But it's gorgeous, already has the lights on it, doesn't shed, doesn't need to be watered, and I could leave it up until Easter if I really wanted to!
    Do miss the scent, though.

  6. Hey Alexa...it's been like forever since I stopped by. I've been encumbered with writing...mine and my students.
As for the tree, we too finally went to an artificial one after years of the real thing (and I'm not talking Cocoa Cola). I too miss the scent of pine but don't have to worry about the tree drying out and needles everywhere. Nonetheless, I've some great youthfurl memories of hunting down our Christmas tree (as in your photo) with my gramps. Who knows, in a few years we may return to the arbor au naturale!

  7. I don't have a tree in my apartment. I do have a Christmas cactus. :-)

Take a photo of your tree when it's done up and decorated.
