art for peace

Been trying to pay more attention to
the art that's all around us in this
city. This is Obelisk to Peace, by
Irving Marantz— at the corner of
Park and 34th Street.

  1. Hi Alexa, saw your post on Eric's Paris Photo Blog and read your profile. Lucky you living in Europe early on. I'm from the same era but spent it in NJ.. Now in Florida and widowed, I am playing catch up..
I started traveling in the past few years and next month I am going to Paris for the first time. Books on Paris now cover most flat surfaces in my house.
I spent a few summers in Brooklyn as a teenager and imagine it is an entirely different world now.
My list of favorite music and books is almost a clone of yours.

  2. Thanks for keeping an eye on the art scene. I don't know about this one though. Hmmm...It reminds me of a Trojan warrior for some reason or...well, the obvious object of Freudian discussion. It's certainly not Oscar Wilde's "Happy Prince." Nevertheless, I think it's cool you cover the arts in NYC. Really appreciate that! Good weekend!

  3. Hi, Karen -- Brooklyn is now better than ever—very hip. I'm going to check out your blog(s), and your list of fave books and music! I've been looking for my doppelganger; maybe you're it. I envy you seeing Paris for the first time . . .

coltrane -- yes, I believe "trojan" is the operative word here. Wouldn't say I cover the arts, but I am trying to pay attention.
