as it is, as it was

Also for Rahul, our famous view of lower
Manhattan from Brooklyn—just wish
it hadn't been such an overcast day.

  1. That sign's not kidding about "...Heights...." Great perspective. So (still, and ever?) grief-stricken about the gap in the skyline in the B&W photo.

One of our recent movies was shot somewhere here I think - KANK (Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna)...it had Shah Rukh Khan, Rani Mukherji, Amitabh Bachchan etc..

I wanna come to NY sometime!!:)

  3. Love this shot. It reminds me of a jazz documentary of Thelonius Monk and the end of his career. In it, the cameras panned a similar shot with this skyline in the background. Beautiful even with the haze! Watched the Tony Awards tonight and wished I was in the Big Apple.

  4. Going to Ground Zero was the strongest moment of my trip to NY.
Those 2 little blue lights far above .... just remembering them still gives me gooseflesh ( chair de poule).

  5. So it shall be . . .

Incredible view. Something about a city view that gives me shivers. Makes me feel vibrantly alive.

How nice to see TG, Lynn, Coltrane and the star of the day Rahul in NY ;)

  6. It's the next day, but I had to come back and say thanks to you all for commenting.
Tall gary -- We will always miss that gap (even when they fill it with the "next" thing). Those towers were how I taught my children to get around the city (where we lived when they were little). They were the kids' own personal compass rose, faithfully marking due south.
