The Weekend in Black and White

On this day there were lots of visitors to
the Colosseum, in Rome, including
me.  I took this shot because it's fairly
unusual—as you might expect,
there really aren't a lot of windows here.

Shadow Shot Sunday

Here's a quiet corner behind the scenes
at Paris's most beautiful opera
house, the Opera Garnier, where it's
mostly ballet that's performed these days.

Weekend Reflections

I rescued this geranium from being tossed
when we moved to new offices.  It's
been around a long time and is a bit the worse
for the steam heat in my apartment—but
it continues to bless me with blooms
on a regular basis.

These are actually Sunday shadows—seen
a week ago at Grand Central Terminal.

The Weekend in Black and White

This was going to be a shot of the cat in the
window—but the moment I stepped
into the room, this über-snuggly kitty
came looking for some love.

Weekend Reflections

Years ago, I had a boss who owned one of these
fabulous houses in Brooklyn Heights (think
where Cher lived in Moonstruck).  His wife
insisted they sell it and move to Bay Ridge (now
think Saturday Night Fever).  These days, that house
would be worth many millions of dollars
(and I wonder if he's forgiven her shortsightedness.)

Chez qui?

When I'm [lucky enough to be] walking
around Paris, sometimes I'll look up at some
beautiful window like this and wonder
"Who's the fortunate person who gets to tend
those geraniums?"  Once upon a time it was me
(though hardly in digs that elegant!), and
I'm still hoping it will be again.

Weekend Reflections

Not entirely sure what the dressers were thinking
when they fashioned this window for the
Ferragamo store on Fifth Avenue.  Whatever—
it definitely suits my (reflective) purposes!

Thursday Challenge—Best of 2013

I chose this image for "Reflection,"
back in April.  My friend Bert then pointed out
that it's not really a reflection but an image
of another part of the Doge's Palace.
I think he's right, but I'm showing it again
anyway—because I still love this picture.
