Istanbul

I've borrowed this photo from my daughter
Lila—the magical blue hour, with
a full moon rising over the Bosphorus.

Skywatch Friday

A midnight sky in south Florida:
moon and stars and (ever-present) contrails.

Here's what that moon looked like
when the clouds moved away.

Thursday Challenge—"round"

I actually snapped this big, round rising moon
back in August when I was out in Montauk (the name
of Long Island's primary Native American tribe).
The August moon got its name (the sturgeon moon)
from fishing tribes, but I prefer its secondary name:
the red moon.  Very fitting and much more
romantic—Happy Valentine's Day, everyone!

Cold Moon

Today is the December full moon,
called the full cold moon
 (and sometimes
the full long nights moon). Did you know
that each full moon has a name?
I learned about it from the Farmers Almanac.
