Santa Croce in Florence— you can't talk about this basilica without doing some serious name-dropping: Founded by St. Francis himself, it's the largest Franciscan church in the world; builders included di Cambio, Vasari, and Brunelleschi; frescoes by Giotto; tombs (or funerary monuments) for Dante, Galileo, Gentile, Ghiberti, Machiavelli, Michelangelo, Rossini, Marconi, and Fermi. See what I mean? [To see more churches from around the world, go here.] |

ReplyDeleteIndeed! Very pretty.
ReplyDeleteLovely!
ReplyDeleteThe clouds and the color of the sky. The way the church looks like it has been (heaven forbid) carved out of ivory. That light on the left of the church. The streetlights foretelling the coming dusk. The atmosphere. I can almost feel it in my breath.
ReplyDeleteThat really stands out in the dusk
ReplyDeleteWonderfull photo.

Oh wow, that is magnificent!! I do love many of the things St. Francis said, and enjoyed watching a movie about him a while back.
