A lot of people claim that the ones from Pierre Hermé are the best and some (like me) head to Ladurée for their macaron fix. These were for sale at Eric Kayser, but I wasn't tempted (we were there strictly for their yummy baguettes). [To see more ABC posts, go here.] |

Thursday Challenge—"good"
There are so many good things, it's hard to choose just one—but for sheer ooey-gooey sweet/salty deliciousness, I'd have to put these macarons right up there. They're caramel aux fleur de sel, the best, from the new NYC shop of Ladurée, also the best. [To see more of the Thursday Photo Challenge, go here.] |

abc wednesday —G is for "grand opening"
![]() |
Finally! Ladurée (Parisian macaron mecca) opened a store here. The opening kept getting delayed, but finally yesterday . . . the windows were dressed and the folks were lined up in anticipation. The woman next to me in line bought almost $90 worth of these treats, among them a few gorgeous, pink 'pétale de rose'. My choice: one flavor only— caramel au fleur de sel. The best (imho), and worth every single penny and calorie! [To see more abc wednesday, go here.] |

Thursday Photo Challenge: "Happy"
Why is this woman so happy? Well, let's see: She's in Paris, enjoying a gorgeous spring day in the Luxembourg Gardens—and she's savoring a Ladurée macaron (caramel au beurre salé, the best flavor, IMHO). Happy? Actually, this looks more like sheer bliss to me! [For more happiness, go here, to today's Thursday Challenge.] |

abc wednesday —L is for "Ladurée"
A Paris pastry shop where you can find macarons, that meringue-y, jammy, buttercreamy concoction that the French do SO well. Pierre Hermé has arguably Paris' best, but Ladurée provided our fix more than once. [To see more of the letter L, go here.] |
