The Weekend in Black and White

Inviting, isn't it?
I almost didn't have to shoot this in black
and white, because the trompe-l'oeil
doorway of this Roman café
was painted that way.

red bowl

A couple of days before Christmas, I met up with
my friend Conrad (aka Ming the Merciless,
former NYC blogger who now lives up in Maine
where he has learned to live at a much
saner pace).  It was great to catch up with him
while strolling around Dumbo and
Brooklyn Heights (where we enjoyed a yummy bowl
of café (and more) at Le Pain Quotidien.

ABC Wednesday—E is for "entertainer"

I took this picture of monsieur and his
portable piano when I was in Paris
in 2014.  I took it with me when I went back
in 2015, in case I ran into him again.
(I didn't, though I was able to give pics to
some other people).  La prochaine fois, peut-être.

a beer and a kir

. . . and some cacahuettes—and an ashtray (!)
Well, this is Paris, and I'd be willing to put up
with some secondhand smoke if I could be
walking (not long) distance from this café terrace.

The Weekend in Black and White

It was early—and chilly.  But right now I'd be
willing to bundle up if I could park myself there.

I know which one I want ...

You're in Paris and you've stopped at
a little sidewalk café for some
people-watching and a sip of something.
What'll it be: café or rosé?
