ABC Wednesday—E is for "empty"

It is possible to enjoy the Piazza di Spagna
and the Spanish Steps and view of
Trinita dei Monti up above without
 the
hordes that are usually found there.
  All you
have to do is get up at dawn.

ABC Wednesday—E is for "entertainer"

I took this picture of monsieur and his
portable piano when I was in Paris
in 2014.  I took it with me when I went back
in 2015, in case I ran into him again.
(I didn't, though I was able to give pics to
some other people).  La prochaine fois, peut-être.

ABC Wednesday—E is for "escargots"

As someone once said, "Slippery little suckers."
Also proof that pretty much anything can
be rendered edible with butter, garlic, and parsley!
And I wasn't worried about whether they'd be
good—they've been serving these here for 114 years.

ABC Wednesday—E is for "éclair"

If you're in Paris and strolling around the
Marais and you get a hankering for something
sweet, head for this place:  éclairs de génie,
on rue Pavée.  You'll have plenty of delish varieties
to choose from (and, clearly, the sales staff
is not sampling the wares).  Our choice?

This—of course! (And though they're
not huge, they are rich—so the

three of us happily shared one.)

ABC Wednesday—E is for "eligible"

According to my daughter Kate, who took this
shot of an Adélie penguin in Antarctica, here's
the penguin equivalent of match.com.  This bird is
puttin' out the word: I'm free and I'm looking!
(Must say, the others seem a bit underwhelmed. . . . Hope
you all have better luck with your Valentine tomorrow.)
