Weekend Reflections

Autumn in Paris: These wouldn't be
here long—in my experience, concierges
and shopkeepers both are very
fastidious about keeping the sidewalks clean.

Jardin du Luxembourg

The Luxembourg Palace (now the headquarters
of the French senate) was built between
1615 and 1645 for Marie de Medici, widow of Henri IV.
It was passed down through various members
of her family, was at one time the home of the scandalous
Duchess du Berry, and was taken over by
Hermann Göring during the German occupation.

inSPIREd Sunday

Notre Dame is gorgeous in all seasons,
of course—but for me maybe most of all in
the fall.  Here it's seen through the autumn
leaves along the Quai de Montebello.

Blue Monday / Lundi en Bleu

If I had a terrace in Paris (I wish!), this would be on it.

This shot was actually taken in November,
proof  that Paris florists have
irresistible offerings at any time of year.

les ponts de Paris

Well, three of them anyway (in all, there
are 37, including 3 for pedestrians and 2 for trains).
Visible through the ornate railing of the Pont
Notre Dame (1853) is the Pont au Change (1860),
and behind that is Paris's oldest bridge, the Pont Neuf,
which dates all the way back to 1606.

inSPIREd Sunday

Yes, it's Notre Dame again—this time
from the vantage point of the little garden
behind it.  To be honest, I probably
have enough photos of this classic cathedral
to fill up a month of (inSPIREd) Sundays!

Autumn in Paris

Two days ago, I was moaning about the
end of a beautiful summer.  Well, now that
fall is officially here, I think maybe I
should just enjoy it!  (Wouldn't be too hard
to do in this particular place, would it?)
